about

trismugistus.com and digital-bondage.net are my web sites.

trismugistus.com is where I upload my anime, manga and tv&film reviews, and also where I occasionally post short stories and longer works I've written.

digital-bondage.net is my wallpaper site and provides anime, manga and other desktop wallpapers in a variety of resolutions. I also have some psds for you to download.

I also run a site called scan-city.org, which provides some scans for you to download and use in your wallpapers.

You can also read my blog here or check out my anime list here. I also have pages on devart here and urbis here.

The new psd is somethign of a preview. Normally when I upload a psd without having already uploaded a wall it means I've either given up trying to wall it or am generally struggling.

This time it simply means I've gotten way ahead of myself and haven't had the time to finish the wall when I'm doing a batch of updates (I do the updates way in advance).

maburaho review

"In a harem-style romantic-comedy anime, one of the most important elements (if not, in fact, the most important element) is fan-service.

It is essential that the protagonist finds himself able to ogle girl's boobs (and anything else that's on offer) on a regular basis.

This is the very basis for this type of show's existence. Yes there's other stuff - the romance and the comedy for starters - but basically, if you're making a show that fulfils certain male fantasies, then chief amongst them has to be looking at girl's "bits".

Maburaho promises a lot on this front and in the beginning it looks like it's going to deliver."

ichigo 100% review

"In the manga world, the harem master is effectively supposed to be the reader's surrogate. So, in other words, it's a gigantic fantasy, where every gorgeous woman our reader meets falls instantly in love with him - or, at the least, wants to bone him.

Now there are a few additional conventions as well. Firstly, the lead male is normally a complete loser who is hopeless with women. The idea, remember, is that that's easy for the reading demographic to identify with.

Another convention is that there should be one particular girl who is kinda the core love-interest. She's generally either the one the lead is most compatible with, has the most in common with or, quite often, has simply known the longest. Sometimes additional specific elements can be thrown in - the cheesiest of which being a promise between the two characters when they're children, usually involving marriage."

ai yori aoshi manga review

"In the manga the stuff that comes after the anime stopped is actually the best stuff. Now the reason for that isn't really clearly - perhaps the popularity of the series was fading a bit. Or perhaps the creator was getting bored or wanted to move onto something else. Or maybe it was running out of material - the manga does stretch to a huge 17 volumes, after all.

Anyway, the point is that for about two-thirds of the manga nothing really happens. As with the anime, it starts off in a traditional romantic mode with the main characters Kaouru and Ai meeting perhaps by chance or perhaps by fate. We also get the basic back story of their arranged marriage and Kaouru walking out on his family and how that essentially cancelled the marriage, but Aoi maintains her love.

And again, as in the anime, the bizarre solution of having Kaouru become Aoi's lodger is proposed - though here with even less apparent justification than was given in the anime. And then the anime swiftly jumps into harem territory as a procession of beauties moves into the other lodgings or otherwise become part of Kaouru's life."

grenadier manga review

"See, this is sort of the point I'm building too: Real guns - guns in real life - are horrible. The fantasy guns in entertainment are awesome. Or rather, the wielders of guns in entertainment are awesome.

What's more, to some extent, the more ludicrous the representation of guns in entertainment the better. Shooting a tiny target from 10 miles away with a handgun? Awesome. Firing bullets that knock other bullets out of the air? Spectacular. Ricocheting a bullet off of a light-shade and a wooden table so that it hits the bad-guy in the nuts? Wonderful.

Utterly implausible = super cool."
